How to make beutiful DIY rakhi for dear brother on Raksha Bandhan

To make beautiful DIY rakhi at home, here we have bought some easy tips and tools to make handmade rakhi by using minimum material, which is available easily in any craft or stationery shop. Let’s have look at how to make different rakhi designs at home.

1.Glitter Rakhi

Material required for Rakhi:

  1. Glitter foam (gold or silver)
  2. Red sponge (your choice)
  3.  stone chain 
  4. Round, medium-sized gold Kundan stones
  5. Small drop-shaped gold Kundan stones and small round-shaped Kundan stones
  6. Fabric glue
  7. Scissor
  8. Tying chord

Method of making:

  • Step 1: To make the rakhi base, cut the glitter foam and red sponge into a round shape of your desired size, as shown in the picture.
  • Step 2: Apply the glue to the center of the glitter foam and stick the sponge on the glitter foam base using fabric glue. Let it dry for a few seconds.
  • Step 3: Now stick the gold Kundan stone on the center of the sponge; also stick the stone chain around the gold Kundan; and again, stick the drop-shaped gold Kundan around the stone chain. 
  • Step 4: Finally, stick the small red Kundan around the edges of the glitter foam base.
  • Step 5: Finish it by sticking the tying chord backward and letting it dry for a few minutes. Now your Rakhi is ready for Raksha Bandhan. 
2.Anchor thread or wool rakhi

Material required for wool Rakhi:

  1. Pink anchor thread or wool (you can choose any color)
  2. Oval-shaped silver Kundan
  3. Small mirror or silver round Kundan
  4. stone chain
  5. Cotton fabric or foam sheet for the stone base
  6. Fabric glue
  7. Scissor
  8. Tying chord

Method of making:

  • Step 1: To make the stone base, take any thick cotton fabric (the color should be the same as woolen thread) and cut it into a round shape.
  • Step 2: Now cover the base entirely with Kundan stone and stone chains with fabric glue and let it dry for a few minutes. Now Base 1 is ready. For design, refer to the image above.
  • Step 3: To make a flower pompom base, Take the wool or anchor thread of your choice and rotate it around your finger or small cardboard for 20-25 rounds, then gently pull it out and tie it from the center. Using scissors, cut the edges from both sides and spread the wool thread properly to make the flower pompom base.
  • Step 4: Now place Base 1 in the center of the wool flower pompom and stick it by using fabric glue and letting it dry for a few minutes.
  • Step 5: Finish it by sticking the tying chord backward using glue. Another rakhi is ready for Raksha Bandhan. 
3.Traditional silk thead rakhi

Material required for Rakhi:

  1. Red silk thread
  2. Ball chain
  3.  stone chain 
  4. Cardboard (for silk base)
  5. Gold Kundan, green Kundan, and white Kundan (refer to picture)
  6. Round, medium-sized gold Kundan stone
  7. Cotton fabric (for Kundan stone base)
  8. Fabric glue
  9. Scissor
  10. Tying chord

Method of making:

  • Step 1: To make the rakhi base, cut the cardboard to a round shape of your desired size, wrap it completely using red silk thread, and apply glue to the center. And let it dry for a few minutes.
  • Now to make the stone base, take thick cotton fabric and cut it into a round shape. This base should be a little bit smaller than the first base.
  • Step 2: Now fill the 2nd base using the Kundan stone, ball chain, and stone chain in a circular shape; for design, refer to the image above.
  • Step 3: Place base 2 on top of base 1 and stick it from the center using glue. Let it dry for a few minutes.
  • Step 4: Finish it by sticking the tying chord backward and letting it dry for a few more minutes. Now your 3rd Rakhi is ready for Raksha Bandhan. 
4.Pompom rakhi

Material required for pompom Rakhi:

  1. Blue wool or anchor thread (choose any color)
  2. Gold beads
  3. Pearl beads
  4. Scissor

Method of making:

  • Step 1: Now to make a pompom, take the wool or anchor thread of your choice and rotate it around your finger or small cardboard for 30-40 rounds, then gently pull it out and tie it from the center. Using scissors, cut the edges on both sides.
  • Step 2: Take a string of anchor thread and insert it through the pompom. Now embellish this tying thread by inserting gold and pearl beads, as shown in the picture above.
  • This is something so beautiful and simple that it can be made in a few minutes.
